Treehouse Defenders is a strategy RPG made as my final capstone project in JCCC’s game development program. The game was made alongside two other people and using Agile development methods involving two week sprints and monthly releases. Various tasks were split up among the team, and we were also able to work through various development difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Treehouse Defenders the player takes control of four children in the small town of Fairview, where they have designated themselves the town’s defenders against the forces of evil. In each level the kids come face to face with a monster, and they must use their surroundings as well as their unique abilities to defeat it. However, these monsters are merely imaginary, and the children are instead causing chaos throughout the innocent businesses they are “defending.”

My personal responsibilities for this project included:

  • Designing the Arcade, Gym, and Grocery levels while also fine tuning the lighting in all three levels

  • Directing a cast to voice characters written by another designer, as well as mixing and post processing those files with limited resources

  • Texturing all 3D models and characters

  • Creating a skybox for each level

  • Creating and animating a unique 2D sprite for every monster

  • Creating sound effects for various things throughout the game, including making custom sound effects for each monster
